Niek de Boer (2005) is een enthousiast musicus met een grote passie voor kamermuziek en
orkestspel. Het allermooiste vindt hij om zijn liefde voor het samen muziek maken te delen
met het publiek. Niet alleen als violist, maar ook als gewaardeerd altviolist geeft hij jaarlijks
diverse concerten, net zoals hij met veel plezier doet in het Silhouet Kwartet. Hij beschouwt
het als een grote waarde om in deze fase van zijn studie beide instrumenten tegelijkertijd te
kunnen en mogen ontwikkelen.
Niek begon op 4-jarige leeftijd met vioollessen bij Rita Rouw in Groningen. In 2020 werd hij
toegelaten tot de Jong Talentklas van het Prins Claus Conservatorium, waar hij 4 jaar
studeerde bij Chris Duindam. In 2024 begon hij zijn bacheloropleiding aan het Koninklijk
Conservatorium in Den Haag bij Arisa Fujita. Niek was ook enkele jaren lid van het Haydn
Jeugd Strijkorkest in Groningen, waar hij tevens concertmeester was. Daar kreeg hij een
prachtige kans om zijn ensemblespel te ontwikkelen, ook met solistische mogelijkheden,
alles onder leiding van dirigent Jan-Ype Nota.
Niek volgde masterclasses op diverse festivals zoals het Aurora Festival, het Festival
Musique du Chambre Normandie en de JM International Chamber Music Campus in
Weikersheim. Daar kreeg hij les van onder anderen Joseph Puglia, Ilona Sie Dhian Ho en
Moshe Hammer. Daarnaast nam hij deel aan (orkest)projecten onder leiding van Arthur
Arnold, Jac van Steen, Walter Reiter en Cuarteto Casals.

Niek de Boer (2005) is an enthusiastic musician, with a great passion for chamber music and
orchestral playing. He enjoys the most to share with audiences his love for making music
together. Not only as a violinist, but also as a regarded viola player he plays concerts at
various occasions each year, just like he does happily in the Silhouet Quartet. He considers it
a great value to be able to develop both instruments at the same time in this part of his
studies.
Niek started taking violin lessons with Rita Rouw in Groningen at the age of 4. In 2020 he
was accepted in the Young Talent Class in the Prince Claus Conservatory, where he studied
for 4 years with Chris Duindam. In 2024 he started his bachelor’s degree at the Royal
Conservatory in The Hague with Arisa Fujita. Niek has also been a member of the Haydn
Youth String Orchestra in Groningen for several years, where he was also concertmaster.
There he had a great chance to develop his skills in ensemble playing, as well as soloistic
opportunities, all under guidance of conductor Jan-Ype Nota.
Niek followed masterclasses at various festivals such as the Aurora Festival, the Festival
Musique Du Chambre Normandie, and the JM International Chamber Music Campus in
Weikersheim. There he received lessons from, amongst others, Joseph Puglia, Ilona Sie
Dhian Ho and Moshe Hammer. Furthermore, he participated in (orchestra) projects under the
direction of Arthur Arnold, Jac van Steen, Walter Reiter, and Cuarteto Casals.
