Joost de Boer (2003) begon op zijn zesde met cellolessen bij Alexandra Vierkant. Tijdens zijn middelbare schoolperiode zat hij in de Jong Talentklas van het Prins Claus Conservatorium in Groningen, waar hij les kreeg van Corine ’t Hoen. Momenteel studeert Joost in de bachelor aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium in Den Haag bij Jan-Ype Nota en Michel Strauss.
Hij nam meerdere keren deel aan het Prinses Christina Concours, waarbij hij in 2020 de tweede prijs kreeg in de regionale finale. Ook volgde Joost masterclasses tijdens verschillende zomercursussen zoals het Aurora Festival en het festival Musique du Chambre Normandie. Hij kreeg hierbij les van onder andere Harro Ruijsenaars, Amparo Lacruz en Mathijs Broersma. In 2022 ontving hij tijdens het Aurora Festival de Vrienden van het Prins Claus Conservatorium Prijs.
Joost heeft een grote liefde voor kamermuziek en orkest. Hij was zes jaar lid van het Haydn Jeugd Strijkorkest, waar hij tevens mee soleerde. Sinds 2024 is hij lid van het Nationaal Jeugd Orkest, waar hij deelnam aan verschillende projecten met dirigenten als Otto Tausk en Elias Grandy. Joost heeft een grote passie voor kamermuziek en met veel plezieren enthousiasme speelt hij als cellist in het Silhouet Kwartet.

Joost de Boer (2003) began cello lessons with Alexandra Vierkant at the age of six. During high school, he was part of the Young Talent Class of the Prince Claus Conservatory in Groningen, where he studied with Corine ’t Hoen. Joost is currently pursuing his bachelor’s degree at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague where he has lessons with Jan-Ype Nota and Michel Strauss.
He has participated in the Princess Christina Competition several times, winning second prize in the regional finals in 2020. Joost also participated in masterclasses during various summer courses, such as the Aurora Festival and the Musique du Chambre Normandie festival. He was taught by amongst others: Harro Ruijsenaars, Amparo Lacruz, and Mathijs Broersma. In 2022, he received the Friends of the Prince Claus Conservatory Award at the Aurora Festival. Joost has an enormous love for chamber music and orchestra.
He was a member of the Haydn Youth String Orchestra for six years, with which he also performed as a soloist. Since 2024 he has been a member of the National Youth Orchestra, where he has participated in various projects with conductors such as Otto Tausk and Elias Grandy. Joost has a great passion for chamber music and plays cello in the Silhouet Quartet with huge pleasure and enthusiasm.
